Campus Gateway is a 1RU device that is built on the same hardware platform as Cisco CW9800 wireless controllers, the products typically used for on-premises management. Although Campus Gateway shares its hardware platform, it is a cloud-native product.

Licensing
Campus Gateway does not require a device license for implementation. However, access points supported by Campus Gateway will require either an Enterprise or Advanced tier cloud license, or for Wi-Fi 7 access points, a Cisco Networking subscription of either the Essentials or Advantage tier to enable dashboard functionality.
